Acceptable Use Policy
1. Who this applies to
Anyone using Zeami, whether a personal account holder or an organization and its administrators deploying Zeami to workers.
2. Lawful, notified use only
- Don't use Zeami to break the law or violate someone's rights.
- Don't track a person without the notice or consent the law requires for that person, in that jurisdiction. Zeami is built for people tracking their own work, or employers monitoring their own workforce with notice, not for tracking someone who has not been told.
- Never use Zeami to stalk, spy on, or covertly surveil a partner, family member, roommate, or anyone outside a disclosed employment relationship. Covert personal-use monitoring is exactly the kind of misuse that draws regulatory and press attention to this category of software, and it's excluded here regardless of what a court in a given state might separately permit.
- Only install Zeami on a device you own, or one you're authorized to manage on someone else's behalf with that person's knowledge (for example, a company-issued laptop under a published monitoring policy).
3. Enterprise-specific rules
- No covert monitoring of workers, except in the narrow case where the law of the worker's jurisdiction expressly permits it and the organization has taken its own legal advice first.
- Don't deploy Zeami on a device the organization doesn't own or lawfully manage, without that device user's consent.
- Don't use Zeami's output (classifications, time estimates, cost estimates, workflow scores) as the sole basis for a decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on a worker (discipline, pay, promotion, termination) without human review by someone with the authority to change the outcome.
- Keep the notices and acknowledgments your jurisdiction requires (see the Employee Monitoring Notice template). Worker notice and consent are handled through your own notice and your agreement with us.
4. System integrity
- Don't probe, overload, or interfere with the service, or access it other than through the app and interfaces we provide.
- Don't reverse engineer the software except where the law gives you that right.
- Don't resell the service, or use it to build a competing dataset or product.
- Don't attempt to disable, circumvent, or interfere with the credential stripping or the Privacy Lists. Those exist to protect the people being tracked, including from Zeami's own operators.
5. Enforcement
Violating this policy can result in suspension or termination of an account, and, for enterprise customers, may be treated as a material breach of the customer agreement. We may investigate suspected violations and cooperate with law enforcement where the law requires it. Report suspected misuse to support@zeami.io. We acknowledge reports within five working days and tell you the outcome once we have investigated.
6. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes are announced the same way as changes to the Terms of Service.
